Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world.
Life’s too short to wear boring clothes.
Happiness never goes out of style.
I’m sure you’ve heard the sayings, and these mantras have been my words to live by since the very young age my family found it appropriate to buy me my first handbag. I’ve always considered clothing to be one of the greatest forms of self-expression. I racked up an impressive amount of detentions throughout high school by insisting on channeling my inner Blair Waldorf, incorporating fabulous headbands and wedges with an offensive plaid uniform. I’ve dreamt of interning in the industry, becoming a buyer for big name brands, maybe even opening a boutique or launching a line of my own some day. I am a firm believer in following your dreams, so after college, I did what anyone who is obsessed with beauty, shopping, and all things fashion would do …. I became an accountant. Truth.
If I’m being honest, a career with a private accounting firm isn’t exactly what I had in mind during the endless hours of fashion shows I hosted in my living room at the age of ten. While I have found success in my career in corporate America, accounting leaves little room for creativity. Because of this, I have spent the past few years filling my free time with all the things I truly love that exist outside of my 9-5. I’m a fitness instructor, a baker, and a business owner. I love to travel, create, explore, eat, sweat, and experiment. This blog will be filled with all of those things. It will showcase things that inspire me, intrigue me, motivate me, and entertain me – and I can guarantee that none of them will have anything to do with accounting. You’re welcome.
There was a time in my life that I played it safe. If there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s that you are entirely responsible for creating your own future, and your life improves tremendously when you fill it with things you love. Pursue your dreams. Stop settling. Have your cupcake and eat it too.
