New York at Christmas Time is MAGICAL. The 94-ft tall tree, Christmas shopping in the elaborately decorated department stores, the Radio City Rockettes, and of course … food! LOTS of food with all of the amazing NYC eats.
It can be incredibly difficult to decide where to eat during a short trip in the city because there are SO many amazing places!!! #firstworldproblems
48 HOURS- 7 RESTAURANTS- OLD MUSTS- NEW FAVES
Friday Night – Koi
Bryant Park is a beautiful area. Definitely worth a trip to the adorable park of vendors, restaurants, skating, and much more. Unfortunately we arrived late and the park was closed – NOOO! Luckily we were able to still have a quick walk around the area. Koi is located right outside of the park, inside the Bryant Park Hotel.
I found this restaurant from a recommendation. It did NOT disappoint. The menu is made up of traditional Japanese dishes with California accents. It has a very sophisticated interior with dark wood and garden landscapes.
- SIP – Ginger Mojito
- START – Northern Lights Roll & Double Tuna Roll
- DINE – Steamed Chilean Sea Bass
- INDULGE – Koi Sundae, Flourless Molten Chocolate Cake & Milk Chocolate Banana Spring Rolls
Before you say “OMG Amanda .. you had 3 desserts” … they were shared! However, I totally could have eaten them ALL!
Saturday Morning – Sarabeth’s (Central Park South)
It wouldn’t be a trip to New York without going to Sarabeth’s, specifically their Central Park South location. My FAVE! So delicious, adorable, and friendly. This restaurant delivers contemporary American food with specialty cocktails.
They are known for their legendary preserves.
- SIP – Four Flowers Mimosa (fresh orange, banana, pineapple, and pomegranate juice with sparkling wine) a MUST HAVE!
- START – Basket of Sarabeth’s Muffins and Legendary Preserves
- DINE – Apple Cinnamon French Toast & Vegetable Frittata … when you can’t decide… get BOTH!
Saturday Afternoon – Saks 5th Avenue – Café SFA
You know what I love?! Restaurants inside a store! Especially when it’s a massive Saks 5th Avenue Department Store. You work up an appetite from all the shopping and BAM .. food is right there! #winning
Café SFA offers relaxed fine dining on the 8th floor of the iconic Saks Fifth Avenue flagship store. Also has an amazing view of Rockefeller Center. Perfect for a quick bite.
- DINE – Petit Tuna with a Field Greens Salad
Saturday Snack – Magnolia’s Bakery
Shopping at Bloomingdale’s is always better with a snack. Had to stop in at their own Magnolia’s Bakery for a sweet treat and a little caffeine fix.
- SIP – Coffee
- INDULGE – Chocolate Cupcake
Saturday Night – Hunt & Fish Club
The theater district has fabulous restaurants for a bite to eat before an 8:00 show. So many options that it’s HARD to choose! Hunt & Fish Club was the winner and it did NOT disappoint. The atmosphere was elegant with a classic yet contemporary menu.
- SIP – Manhattan
- START – Local Field Greens
- DINE – Whole Grilled Branzino & Truffle Tater Tots
- INDULGE – Chocolate Peanut Butter Bombe
PS. Popovers were their bread of choice, which were delicious! AND these were the best tater tots I’ve ever had in my entire life. Not kidding. MY ENTIRE LIFE.
Saturday Night Drinks – Middle Branch
After the show, Joe and I ventured to a cocktail bar called Middle Branch. It was high-end with a cozy atmosphere. My sassy friend Crystal is a mixologist there and did a fabulous job creating special drinks for each of us. SO GOOD!
- SIP – Fiesta
Sunday Brunch – The Rainbow Room
One of the BEST days in the city to date. Seriously… I’ve been coming to New York foreverrrr and I can’t believe I’ve never been to the Rainbow Room. HANDS DOWN… AMAZING! I may have ate for an entire week… and guess what… #notsorry
This iconic destination is one of New York City’s most glamorous venues! An incredible view, playful entrees, chef stations, and indulgent desserts. What more could you ask for!
A few of my favorites from our experience to SIP, START, DINE, and INDULGE…
Lobster Béarnaise Benedict – Crab Cakes – Smoked Salmon – Shrimp Cocktail – Oysters – Pumpkin Pecan Pancakes – Bread and Butter Pudding French Toast – Hickory Smoked Turkey – Bacon Station – Savory and Sweet Crepes – Carrot Cake – Molten Chocolate Cake – Pink Macaroons – Flourless Chocolate Cake – Cookies – Pumpkin Pie – Ice Cream
